Our Teaching
Philosophy has been formed during our 22 years of
teaching in Conservatories and Music colleges in Russia, as
well as during our 6 years tenure at Miami and Dayton
Universities in the USA. After moving to California in a
Spring of 1996, we decided to open our own Piano school, and
to incorporate all accumulated knowledge and experience from
our professional life as teachers and performers. However,
we still decided to invest more time and funds, and to learn
in depth, what does it take to start piano lessons with
very young children, age 3-4 - a new for us experience. This
is when Viktor went to study a world - known Suzuki approach
for a few month in 1996. After becoming a Certified Suzuki
teacher, and passing all what he had learned to Anna, we felt
that we are ready for our School, we are ready to start with
young kids, and our Teaching
Philosophy and Method for children has been shaped
and formed.

Our Teaching Method is a combination of the best
features of Russian Teaching techniques and Suzuki Teaching
method, with strong emphasis on frequent performances (please
look at our "Events" page).
We
strongly believe that performance activities are
very important part of our kid's musical education. Every
performance on stage boosts our student's confidence, gives
them an extra incentive and the goal to practice, rewords them
with applauses, presents, compliments, and joy of shearing
music with others.

VIOLIN.
We
know how to do it, and we are proud of what we do!

The
only reason to come to our School is to learn MUSIC
through Piano or Violin seriously, in depth.
We are not offering courses in math, dancing, language,
sowing, water coloring, SAT, Hip - Hop dancing, gymnastics,
tennis, skiing, sky diving, yoga, martial arts, etc.; we don't
offer babysitting students as well.
WE ARE MUSIC SCHOOL! WE TEACH MUSIC - WITH FOCUSES
ON PIANO AND VIOLIN! WE ARE GOOD AT WHAT WE KNOW, AND WE
TEACH ONLY WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED OURSELVES!
All the teachers of our School undergo
through thorough and extensive Preparatory Teaching period
before actually starting lessons with kids. During this period
they get acquainted in depth with the special features of the
method we have developed. Their results speak for themselves -
all our students from every studio pass an Annual National
test, we have Competition winners from almost every studio,
students from every studio participate in our Honors Recitals
3-4 times a year, we have a very low drop off rate.
Our
Teaching Philosophy is based
on a strong belief that:
EVERY CHILD CAN AND SHOULD LEARN MUSIC, as much as
every child can and should learn Math, Language, Science,
History, etc.
Music lessons should be an inevitable part of every child's
daily educational schedule - no more, but also no less
important than any other school's subject!
In our Russian
School of Music we try to teach Music as an Art. Not
only piano or violin, with its technique, fingering and proper
phrasing, but Music as a complete package. We teach our kids,
that Music is an interpretation of how we see life through the
Art - a beautiful gift which must be shared.
We don't pledge to
create a concert pianist or violinist from every student
studying with us. We can only promise that as Music becomes a
part of our student's daily discipline, education and
development, their lives will be more interesting, more rich,
and more colorful.
