The founders of the School
Dr. Viktor and Anna Polonsky
are Russian-born pianists and teachers, who immigrated to the United
States in 1990, and worked as Professors of Piano at Miami
and Dayton Universities in Ohio for 6 years respectively
(1991-1996). In Russia Viktor and Anna Polonsky worked
as Professors of Piano and soloists for Russian Philharmonic. They performed all over Russian Republics, and in Brazil,
Italy, South Korea, Israel, Canada, and Australia Dr.
Viktor and Anna Polonsky started their Piano School at
first in their home in Santa Clara in 1996, and later
they expended to add 4 more locations in Saratoga Santa Clara, and Evergreen, with about 600 students total, and 28 teachers. This School has been built on a great
traditions of a Russian Romantic Teaching Piano School in a
combination with a world known Suzuki teaching method,
with it's emphases on developing a strong technique, and a deep understanding and love for the meaning of music. |

In August of 2006 three (3) School's locations in Saratoga and Santa Clara have been sold to a well - known in Bay Area Russian piano teacher, performer, and educator Dr. Umida Avloni, and this portion of PPS has been named Avloni Academy of Music (AAM).
Currently the School has only 1 location in Evergreen, has about 330 piano and violin students, and a
unique team of Russian teachers. All the teachers of the School have received
their Masters and Doctoral degrees from Universities and
Conservatories of Russia.

Performance activities
are a very important part of PPS Russian Teaching
Philosophy. PPS students perform regularly in many
recitals, concerts, Competitions, Festivals. Many of them
became winners of local, National and International
Competitions.
Our Method of Piano
Teaching is a combination of
Traditional and Suzuki Piano Schools,
enriched by an extensive International experience of our
teachers. There is a certain and outlined program for
our young beginners, which is comprised of Suzuki piano
book, Traditional book (Alfred, or Hall Leonard, or
Bastien), Technique book (Finger Power), and
Theory Book.
Our Teacher Mark Wanless with Sarah Chao
(A Special Grant Recepient from John Hopkins University
for studying in our School)
Suzuki Piano School is a well recognized all over
the world method of teaching music to young children. Established by the late great
Japanese music teacher Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, this method is
a special combination of musical, technical,
psychological, and educational approaches to teaching.
There are 7 Suzuki books, and each book is equal
approximately to 2 years of piano study. Usually, after
about first year of study, our young students perform a
solo recital for 20 - 25 min., where they play an entire
Suzuki book 1 from memory on our School's stage, in front
of teachers and audience. This is their Graduation recital, which
enables them to move to the next level. While working on
Suzuki book 1 our students usually learn 2 - 3 levels of
Traditional books.

Western States Compitition 2000 |
The more advanced our
students become, the more variety of music repertoire
they will learn, the more interesting and difficult
become the pieces they are working on .
Our adult students,
whether beginners or experienced piano players, enjoy
performing at our different recitals, concerts, and even
testing themselves at the National Auditions. Most of
them are programmers, engineers, doctors, or
businessmen. They say that piano lessons enhanced their
lives, make their lives more interesting and richer. They
come to us from all age groups, from 16 to 73.
We strongly believe that performance
activities are very important part of our kid's musical
education. Every performance on stage boosts our
student's confidence, gives them an extra incentive and
the goal to practice, rewords them with applauses,
presents, compliments, and joy of shearing music with
others.
This why our students
perform 3-4 times a year, they play Competitions, and all
of them play National Guild
Auditions in May. After auditioning for
independent judges from National Teachers Association,
every student receives a certificate or a diploma, and a
pin according to their level.

We feel that as their
teachers we have to demonstrate a good example in this
respect as well. This why most of PPS teachers are very
active as performers. Every year the School presents a
Teacher's recital, sometimes twice a year. Look up our
Upcoming events page for
our concerts.
Polonsky Piano

Piano, Voice, and Violin lessons for students age 3 to 73,
